Top Bathroom Touchpoint Disinfection Tips
Given how we visit our bathrooms multiple times every day, it’s no surprise that they require regular cleaning, as they can be contaminated easily due to accessibility and frequency of use. Regular cleaning is required because of all the touchpoints that a bathroom has, as they are usually the first to get dirty.
If you’re struggling to find time to clean your bathroom, you should consider hiring a touchpoint cleaning company to make sure that your home here in Terre Haute is kept clean at all times. However, if you’re set on doing it on your own, here’s what you can do to properly disinfect all the touchpoints around your bathroom.
What are touchpoints?
Touchpoints are all those spots and areas around your house that you often touch and otherwise interact with, such as doorknobs, switches, faucets, counters, desks, tables or seats. They are one of the most common sources of dirt and harmful bacteria. Because of that, disinfecting them and keeping them clean is key not only to a clean bathroom, but also the entire home.
Is vinegar safe for bathroom sinks?
Vinegar is completely safe for bathroom sink cleaning. Not only is it safe, it’s also very effective. Because of its acidic properties, vinegar, especially white vinegar, is very good at killing bacteria and dissolving grease and dirt.
The best and easiest way to quickly and effectively disinfect a bathroom sink and the surrounding touchpoints is to fill it with water, usually 2-3 inches, and add 1-2 cups of vinegar in it. Then let it rest for about 5-10 minutes and then use the newly-made solution to scrub and clean the sink, and then simply drain it.
You can also use this method to disinfect a kitchen sink as well.
How do I disinfect my bathroom toilet?
White vinegar can also be used as an easy solution for total toilet disinfection, touchpoints and all. Simply pour 1-2 cups of vinegar into the bowl and let it sit for at least 4-5 hours (or you can leave it overnight). Afterwards, pour some baking soda on top and scrub the toilet with a brush.
Use the same solution to treat the exterior of your toilet and all the high-touch places. Once the solution has done it’s work and you’re done scrubbing, simply flush the toilet, wipe the surfaces, and that’s it.
How to properly disinfect my shower/bathtub?
Shower disinfection is a bit trickier and more time-consuming but it’s still doable. Once again, you can use white vinegar for this as well.
For the shower or bathtub itself, simply heat up a cup of white vinegar, dampen a cloth with it, and use it to wipe the wall tiles and the surfaces of the shower/bathtub. Repeat this process 3-4 times with 5-minute breaks in between, to let the vinegar react and dissolve the bacteria and the dirt and minerals that have accumulated on the surfaces.
For shower glass, get a spray bottle and fill it with a solution that’s equal parts water and white vinegar. Then, use the bottle to spray the solution on the glass surfaces, then wipe them with a damp cloth. This will remove all the germs and bacteria from the common touchpoints.
The process for showerhead disinfection is similar to bathtub disinfection. Simply soak a cloth in white vinegar and wipe the showerhead a few times. After that just rinse the showerhead and you’re good to go.
